Sansouci participated in the cruise fair held in Paris

Taking advantage of the dynamism of the French market and supported by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), Sansouci, Port of Santo Domingo participated in the IX Mediterranean Cruise Fair “Seatrade Med”, the convention’s largest cruise industry that took place this year in Marseille, France.

In this fair, the Dominican Republic unified the participation of all local ports in the “Caribbean Village” where different Caribbean countries gave their offers as a whole group, given the positioning of the region in consumer preference in this industry.

The Sans Souci delegation was represented by Jaime Castillo (CEO) and Sharon Mei (commercial Director) of Souci Ports, who focused their efforts in positioning the destination Santo Domingo as homeport and transit port in the Caribbean cruise route.

Trade Med Sea served as opening for new channels of communication with various cruise lines, some of these with Santo Domingo as their destination. As part of the show, Jaime Castillo, executive director of Sans Souci Ports, revealed that the French market is one of the most important source markets of destination of Santo Domingo for the next cruise season.

Castillo said, “The European market is now one of the most important ports in the South of the Dominican Republic by the cultural bonds that attract cruise passengers, mainly from France and Spain, that link to our rich heritage and diverse history “.

The Sans Souci executives visited the Port of Marseille where they met the directors of this port facility.

Furthermore, Sharon Mei, commercial director of the Sans Souci Ports, met with the Tourism Promotion Office of the Mitur in Paris to increase the information on the Santo Domingo destination in the French market.

During this season, the number of European cruise passengers using the Santo Domingo Port is about an 80% of the total number of visitors accessing through Sans Souci and Don Diego terminals. The French visitors represent a 60% and the Germans a 20%.
